The first open qualifier took place Sunday, with Selfless and Splyce earning the two first spots to the closed qualifier while paiN did the same yesterday. Today the last map of compLexity and Muffin Lightning’s match will decide the last team to join Echo Fox, Cloud9, TSM, and Immortals in the fight for four spots at the Americas Minor Passed the first rounds of play in the open qualifier single elimination bracket, two bo3 rounds of 8 and semifinals took place to determine who would join the invited teams in the closed qualifier for the Americas Minor. Selfless made it through in the first open qualifier after a forfeit win against Just Make it Fast and a 2-1 victory over paiN. Selfless took Overpass, 16-11; lost Mirage, 6-16; and prevailed on the decider map, Train, 16-13.
On the other side of the bracket Splyce took on SweetNSour, cruising 2-0 in the round of 8, 13-3 on Overpass and 16-1 on Train. The first team to qualify in the second open qualifier was paiN, who were just short of making it the first time around. They got a forfeit in the round of 8 against RONIN and beat Vault, 2-1. The Brazilian-Portuguese squad won Mirage 16-14, lost Cache 14-16, and then took Train 16-10 to earn a ticket to the closed qualifier over Michael "MAiNLiNE" Jaber’s team. The last spot will be decided today at 18:00 when Complexity and Muffin Lightning play the deciding map in their semifinal match, which was postponed yesterday due to Complexity having to play ECS.
